I know that this post is a little bit late, but I wanted to share all of the Halloween decorations that I made this year before I put them away.
Thanks to the fact that I only worked part-time this summer I was able to find TONS of excuses to use my cricut. One lovely discovery I made was the website svgcuts.com where I found a 3D letter svg kit. These 3D letter sayings are everywhere in the craft world, and the possibilities are endless! (you can purchase the same kit here)
Anyhow, the first project that I made was a halloween inspired "BOO", and I think it turned out pretty cute!
Another popular paper-craft project is the banner, and I couldn't wait to make my first one! Since I had a ton of halloween paper, I figured why not keep working with the same theme?
Here is a close up of the individual flags. The white portion (under the black paper spiderweb) is made from kleenex! It has such a cool 3D quality in person. Click here to see my inspiration for this project and a "how-to" on the kleenex web.
Here is a picture of the finished product. Spooky, right? :)
The other craze that I'm jumping on board with is vinyl rub-ons. I cannot tell you how wonderful it is to have the cricut so I can make my very own designs!
I bought these orange salad plates at Ross...$5.99 for a set of four. I used Sure Cuts A Lot 2 (purchased just before the cricut stopped supporting the software) to design these four different vinyl decals.
The bat design is a free svg from svgcuts.com. I added a few extra bats to it using a halloween dingbat font. (Get the gothic bat flourish here)

It was a little tricky to get the vinyl lined up and smoothed out because the plates are not a completely flat surface, but it turned out pretty well.
Last but not least...my halloween glitter balls! I found this FANTASTIC tutorial here and could not wait to try out my own. Since I was on a halloween kick, I kept right on rolling with some black and orange glitter from Martha Stewart.
This craft is so absolutely simple and quick. I just love how cute they turned out! My favorite part (ok, Milan's favorite part) is that the glitter cannot "shed" all over the house since it is on the inside of the glass ornament. I cannot wait to make some for Christmas!!!
I used SCAL 2 to cut the black and white vinyl in various halloween themed designs.
The only challenge was pressing the vinyl onto the rounded surface. I got a little agressive at one point and broke an ornament during the rub-on process, so I learned to tread lightly with the delicate glass.
I used two different halloween ribbons to hang them in the window above our kitchen sink. Here is the bigger picture:
Phew. That's it for new halloween decorations this year. Of course, I have a whole drawer of projects that I meant to accomplish, but there's always next year! It's time to move on to bigger and better things, like Christmas.
Thanks for looking!
